farm-to-table_editI just sat down with Moutain Madre‘s head chef, Kyle Allen to talk tacos. Paige and Danny Scully have closed the doors of Scully’s Bar and Grille.

They have exciting plans in place to reopen their doors at the end of this month renamed as Mountain Madre Mexican Kitchen and Agave Bar, offering a unique cuisine and environment.

“We want to be known for Traditional Mexican Food with an Appalachian Twist” explained Allen. All the tortillas will be handmade and pressed in house. Fresh seafood will be incorporated into many of the dishes, supporting local suppliers such as 3 Fish and Hickory Nut Gap. Allen will be taking daily trips to the fresh market for supplies.
Allen started as a line cook at a young age and worked his way up to head chef of numerous 5-star restaurants in Chicago. He has experience in Spanish food and different styles of Mexican.
Stop in for lunch and order a Blackened Tilapia Torta and while you’re at it get the mango lime mousse or the caramelized bananas with chocolate drizzle and Hop ice-cream.
Mountain Madre is kid-friendly. They will feature a Mexican Pizza and Hard Shell Tacos on their kid’s menu.
